Pursuing
my Bachelor of Science in Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy at Ziauddin
University was one of the best decisions of my life and laid the foundation for
everything I have achieved so far. I chose this field because my parents are
deaf, and growing up, I witnessed firsthand the communication challenges
individuals and families face, which inspired me to become a professional who
could make a meaningful difference. The rigorous academics, extensive clinical
experience, and dedicated mentorship at Ziauddin University helped build my
confidence and shaped me into a competent and compassionate clinician. Although
the clinical hours can feel stressful at times, they are truly worth it in the
end. I am forever grateful for the opportunity Ziauddin provided, as it allowed
me to transition smoothly from student to professional practice. Seeing and
working with patients felt familiar, which made entering the workplace far less
overwhelming after graduation. After completing my degree, I began my professional
journey as a Speech Therapist at Aga Khan Hospital, working in neuro clinics,
where I gained invaluable real world experience. Driven to further my growth, I
went on to pursue my Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at
Baylor University in the United States. Currently, I am working as a Speech
Therapist Clinical Fellow, completing my requirements toward the Certificate of
Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). Looking back, the strong clinical foundation,
supportive faculty, and emphasis on evidence based practice at Ziauddin
University had a lasting impact on both my career and personal growth. My
advice to current students is to trust the process, embrace the clinical
workload, and believe that the effort you invest today will shape your success
tomorrow. I look forward to giving back to the Ziauddin community by mentoring
students, sharing my journey, and supporting future professionals in this
rewarding field.
